Monica James is a singer-songwriter based in West Michigan, with an ambition of playing music that connects people. Monica has been composing songs and playing guitar since she was just 13, and her powerful classically trained vocals captivate at any venue. Monica is more than ready to expand her passion for performing regionally, and eventually globally. 

Her setlist is diverse, with popular songs from almost every decade since the 60’s. From classic artists like The Eagles and Joni Mitchell, modern hits from the likes of Taylor Swift and Brandi Carlile, and her own compositions, Monica James has something for every audience member. Her shows are intimate and personable, allowing the simple beauty of live vocals and acoustic guitar to shine through at any venue, from the Summer Daydream Music Festival to wedding reception cocktail hours. 

Monica's showmanship and hard work has been recognized on several levels, including competitively. In 2023, she was selected from a group of 40 applicants to participate in the Battle of the Bands hosted by The Stray Cafe in Grand Rapids, Michigan. That same year she performed a duet of "Call Your Mom" by Noah Kahan with a classmate at the East Grand Rapids High school Talent Show, winning second place and a cash prize.

In 2024, Monica performed her original song "The Dance" at the Kent County Youth Fair Talent Show, winning first place.

In 2025, Monica intends to hit the ground running with shows around Michigan, and recorded releases on streaming platforms, so make sure to keep up with her on socials- she is definitely one to watch!
